Ernest Borgnine on kuollut

Legendaarinen Ernest Borgnine kuoli sunnuntaina sairaalassa Los Angelesissä. Hän voitti vuonna 1955 parhaan miespääosan Oscarin elokuvalla Poikamiesilta (Marty). Ernest Borgnine oli yksi suurista, joten eiköhän hän ansaitse ihan oman topicin myös DVDPlazalle. Hän on tehnyt lukemattomia hienoja rooleja pitkällä urallaan. Oma suosikkini on vuodelta 1973, "Emperor of the North", jossa hän esittää kulkureiden painajaista, konduktööri Shackia. Kevyet mullat Ernest!

 

Katselin tuota miehen filmografiaa ja oikeastaan vain The Wild Bunch, The Dirty Dozen ja Escape from New York saa itseltäni maininnan. Loput on kyllä suurimmaksi osaksi aikalailla B-tason leffoissa. Sääli silti, rip.

 

Kyllä oli loisto näyttelijä. Todella kovia leffoja, mitkä on jäänny syvästi mieleen. Escape from New York, The Dirty Dozen, The Wild Bunch näin itselle, mutta hirvee kasa myös sellaisia elokuvia, mhin nyt ei osaa edes miestä yhdistää. RIP Ernest.

 

Jos elokuvissa oli tarvetta vähän rosoisemalle äijälle, niin Borgnine oli oiva valinta siinä missä Lee Marvinkin. Elokuvauran lisäksi miehelle ehti kertyä myös melkoisesti tv-rooleja.

 

Ernest oli näyttelijä, jonka uralle mahtui kokonaista kolme hyvää leffaa. Oliko kyseessä siis hyvä näyttelijä, vai oliko sattumaa että ukko oli näissä mukana kun IMDB listaa kuitenkin 203 elokuvaa / tv-sarjaa. Kevyet mullat, liian aikaisin lähti ja hyvät kuolee nuorena.

 

Niinpä. En ole varsinaisesti kiinnittänyt huomiota, muuta kuin nimenä. Kuitenkin vanhan polven ruman karismaattinen näyttelijä, joten jatkoon. Hyytää ajatellakin jotain Legolassin näyttelijää tässä ketjussa.

 

Kaikkein kovin Legolas on tietenkin Martin "axe" Axenrot.

Ernestin "B-tason" leffoja ovat sitten myös nämä klassikot: Nicholas Rayn Johnny Guitar, John Sturgesin Bad Day at Black Rock, Robert Aldrichin Vera Cruz ja Emperor of the North, Richard Fleischerin Violent Saturday ja The Vikings, Fred Zinnemanin From Here to Eternity ja Delbert Mannin Marty - josta Ernest sai Oscarin.
Kevyet mullat ja kiitokset komeasta urasta. Lopuksi pahoittelut sen johdosta että jotkut pöljät täällä plazan palstoilla höpisevät löysiä.

 

Hienoja elokuvia varmasti kaikki mainitsemasi. Myös RIP James Dean - threadiin ilmeisesti olet muistanut mainita miehen legendaarisen roolin Samuel Fullerin elokuvassa Fixed Bayonets. Samoin kun Harrison Ford joskus pukkaa horsmaa, Ilmestyskirja. Nyt, lienee ainut hautakiveen naputtelemasi elokuva. Brandon unohtumattoman suorituksen muisteleminen Free Money elokuvassa on sitten jo ehdoton edellytys todellisten elokuvan ystävien klubissa.

Oscar-palkinto elokuvasta Marty oli varmasti Ernest Borgninen uran ja elämän huippuhetki, enkä todellakaan väheksy moista suoritusta. Itse kuitenkin 80-luvun leffojen parissa pääasiassa kasvaneena, miehen muistan aina ja ikuisesti Cabbiena.

Voitko vielä, epäselvyyksien välttämiseksi, luokitella Mr. Borgninen uran kaikki roolit, omasta mielestäsi A, B, ja C-luokkaan.
