Kiitos, luin koko listan. Suomalainen versio tuosta kirjasta on tullut myös juuri myyntiin. 1001 elokuvaa, jotka jokaisen on nähtävä edes kerran eläessään
Pitänee hankkia toi kirja. Listalla oli ihan mukavia yllätyksiä kuten vaikkapa loistava Peking Opera Blues. Ja kyllähän noi kaikki leffat olisi hieno nähdä. Hieman tavoitetta elämään...
Mä en ole ikinä tajunnut tälläisten kirjojen funktiota. 100/500/1000 elokuvaa muutamien rivien lauseella koottuna yhteen pyrkimyksenä kattaa kaikki alueet, yleensä epäonnistuen surkeasti. Kaikissa kirjoissa on loppujen lopuksi suunnilleen samat elokuvat (tai ainakin kaikissa on käytetty samaa keskinkertaista, laskelmoitua ja riskitöntä otetta). Tai ehkä kaikki muut elokuvat ovat tosiaan niin huonoja, että loppujen lopuksi joudutaan samaan lopputulokseen. Tekisivät mieluummin vaikka eri tyylilajien sisällä vastaavia opuksia, eikä tälläisiä laskelmoituja superlatiivipläjäyksiä. Edit: tarkoitan siis näitä 1001 movies.. tyyppisiä listauskirjoja
Minusta tuo taas on hyvä idea. Siis eihän kukaan oikea ihminen voi muuten saada mitenkään tietoonsa josta esim. Soldier of Orange (1977) -leffaa, jos ei siihen nimeen jossakin törmää. Pieni synopsi on omiaan taas antamaan pienen mielikuvan ja lisäämään himoa katsoa ko. elokuva. Mitä taas sanot että yleensä niissä on listattuna samoja leffoja, sekään ei minusta haittaa, sillä silloinhan kyseessä on todellinen klassikko. :thumbsup: Nämä listat kieltämättä pitävät yllä jonkinlaista kaanonia, johon nimikin viittaa: "elokuvia, jotka sinun on elämäsi aikana nähtävä". Kirjojen listat yhdessä IMDB-nimisen työkalun kanssa on minun mielestäni toistaiseksi halvin ja paras keino, jolla löytää helposti katsomattomia mutta kiinnostavia elokuvia. Onko mielestäsi sitten leffalehtien myyntilistat yms. parempia? Minusta ei, koska niissä taas rajataan taas pois useimmiten vanhemmat ja marginaalimmat elokuvat.
Niin, kysymys on kai se, että muuttuuko elokuva potentiaalisesti kiinnostavaksi, jos sen löytää listakirjasta, jonka nimi on '1001 elokuvaa, jotka sinun katsottava'? Kas kun kirja ei pysty ottamaan huomioon katsojan omaa makua, se kertoo vain joko tekijän mausta tai tekijän olettamasta katsoja-stereotypiasta. Samanlaisia kultaisen keskitien listoja ja kirjoja on maailma täynnä. Mutta ei siinä mitään, kuten alunperinkin sanoin, en vain ymmärrä tämänkaltaisten kirjojen funktiota (näitä ns. yhden lukemalla olet lukenut kaikki). Se ei tietenkään tarkoita, ettei joku niistä pitäisi -tai ehkä jopa hyötyisi. En ole puolustellut lehtien myyntilistoja, en edes tiennyt että sellaisia listoja lehdissä on. Toisaalta lehtä tuskin myydään pelkästään noiden listojen varjolla. Siinä mielessä tätä vertailua ei ole mitenkään mielekästä jatkaa.
No totta kai se kertoo tekijän omista mielipiteistä! Eihän kirjassa olisi yhtään mitään ideaa, jos se yrittäisi arvata vaikka sinun mielipiteitäsi. Yleensä noissa kirjoissa on kyllä käytetty muitakin kriteerejä kuin tekijän mielipiteet, kuten elokuvan vaikutus myöhempiin teoksiin/tekijöihin tai elokuvan merkitys sen aikalaisyleisölle tai elokuvan sisältämä jokin täysin uusi elementti (vaikka ensimmäinen tietyntyylinen leikkaus). Noiden kirjojen idea ei olekaan koota listaa, josta SINÄ pitäisit, vaan antaa uusi ulottuvuus elokuvaharrastukseen. Yksi ulottuvuus on tietenkin olla eri mieltä kirjan tekijöiden kanssa... Baghin kirja(t) nyt on aika selvästi äijän omia fanituksia höystettynä miehen verbaalivuodatuksilla. Muuten nuo listakirjat saattavat olla ihan muustakin näkökulmasta laadittuja, kuten vaikka antaa kattava läpileikkaus elokuvahistoriasta. Silloin listalla saattaa olla elokuvia, joista edes kirjoittaja ei pidä... eikä odota lukijankaan pitävän, mutta jotka kuitenkin olisi yleissivistyksen näkökulmasta hyvä tietää. Jos haluat oman listan, niin täytä vaikka Amazonin profiiliin muutamia suosikkejasi, niin tod.näk. saat ostoehdotuksissa kohtalaisen hyviä ehdotuksia (+muutaman todella naurettavan, koska ei se täydellisesti toimi).
Niin, mutta kun ne eivät anna mitään uutta ulottuvuutta vaan kyseessä on saman toisto. Jos vähääkään harrastaa elokuvia niin voi sanoa että kyseessä on kirja täynnä itsestäänselvyyksiä (mainstream-mielessä). Kyse on siis puhtaasti laskelmoidusta kompromissista.
Niin, sisältyyhän kirjassa käsiteltyihin elokuviin mm. jo pelkästään tämän vuosituhannen kolmelta ensimmäiseltä vuodelta mainstream-itsestäänselvyydet Ali Zaoua, Prince of the Streets (2000), The Captive (2000), The Gleaners and I (2000), Kippur (2000), Signs and Wonders (2000), Yi Yi (2000), Fat Girl (2001), Kandahar (2001), The Son’s Room (2001), What Time is it There? (2001) ja Russian Ark (2002). Eikö tällaisten kirjojen merkitys intohimoisemmin harrastukseensa suhtautuville ole juurikin mahdollisten ohi menneiden pienten helmien esiintuominen. Kyseinen kirja on varsin arvostettujen elokuvantuntijoiden mielipiteistä koostettu, joten tutuistakin teoksista löytynee kiinnostavia kommentteja - oli niiden kanssa sitten samaa tai vastakkaista mieltä. Nettihän näitä on toki tulvillaan, mutta tulee sitä monitoria jo muutoinkin kylliksi töllötettyä. Kirjan lukemisessa ja selailussa on oma viehätyksensä. Harrastuksensa kanssa vielä aluillaan oleville tällainen koontiteos voi osoittautua varsinaiseksi aarreaitaksi.
Piti laittaa äsken, mutta jätin lauseen lyhyeksi, että mausteena muutamia ajankohtaisia tai vastaavia erikoisuuksia ettei kirja olisi täysin suora kopio kaikista muista listauskirjoista. Ehkä näihin listakirjoihin suhtaudutaan suomessa siksi ihaillen, kun täällä ei paljon elokuvakirjoja suomenneta, mutta katsokaapas joskus vaikka akateemisen elokuvaosastolla montako listauskirjaa löytyy ja miettikää onko niillä noin suuri funktio elokuvaharrastajien keskuudessa? Ehkä sitten onkin. No, itse pidän vain enemmän kirjoista, joissa on enemmän syvällekin menevää sisältöä, olkoonkin, että niissä liikutaan paljon suppeammissa piireissä.
Tein Wordilla taulukon Elämää Suuremmista Elokuvista. Sarakkeita siinä on viisi. Vasemmalla laidalla leffojen nimet. Muiden sarakkeiden otsakkeina: LOISTAVA ****; HYVÄ ***; MENETTELEE **; HUONO *. Näiden otsikoiden alle olen sitten poiminut kustakin leffasta tämänhetkiset parhaimmat DVD- ja Bluray- (+VHS) julkaisut. Lähinnä taulukosta löytyy USA- ja UK-versioita. Näistä maistahan ne laadukkaimmat julkaisut yleensä tulevat. Lähteinä olen käyttänyt pääosin seuraavia: dvdbasen, dvdcompare, dvdmajava, amazon com+co.uk. Olen lukenut tai vähintään silmäillyt satoja arvosteluja ja koittanut niiden perusteella päätellä, miten eri julkaisut suhtautuvat toisiinsa. Nörtti mikä nörtti. Haluaisin julkaista tuon taulukon tässä ketjussa, jotta siitä voisi olla iloa muillekin. En kuitenkaan tiedä, miten se käytännössä onnistuu. Kyllähän tuollanen lista on ihan mielenkiintoista luettavaa, ja noista voi saada hyviä ideoita mitä voisi katsella. Ja miten vähän on vasta nähnyt jne. Toisaalta...Huvittavaa millaisia leffoja noista listoista aina löytyy. Kuten tostakin esim. seuraavat roskaelokuvat Strange Days, Fight Club ja A.I. :sick: Eli kovin subjektiivista, mutta toisaalta: onhan noitakin sinänsä hyvä nähdä, että tietää millaiset trendileffat ovat osoittautuneet menestyksiksi, ja sitä kautta osaa peilata paremmin suuren yleisön makua yms. Ymmärrystä sekin lisää, positiivisesti ajateltuna. Ja löytyihin tuolta Kill Bill Vol 1:kin. :hitme: Eli ton jälkeen voi kuolla? Ei kovin kummonen leffa, etenkään yksistään, varsinkin kun se Vol. 2 on parempi puolisko, ja katsojalle antoisampi. Montakohan leffaa sitä on itse edes kaikenkaikkiaan nähnyt (saatika monta muistaa). Meneeköhän edes lähelle tuota 1001? Tähän kysymykseen ei varmaan ikinä saa vastausta.
