Tämä on vanhoista sarjoista yksi ehdoton suosikkini joten ajattelin että tämä vuodesta 1959 alkava suosikkisarja kaipaa ihan oman ketjunsa. Kaiketi muutkin sarjasta pitävät, sillä esim. IMDB antaa sarjan arvosanaksi 9,6.

Olin näköjään turhan optimistinen TZ Season 1:n kanssa; reilu kuukausi sitten B&N alesta ostettu setti on viallinen.

(Onneksi ) näyttää siltä että minun setissäni olisi vain yksi viallinen BD-levy, eli levy 4 joka on se tavallisin huono levy, mutta monia viallisia kombinaatioitakin on kiertänyt ja vieläkin näyttää ainakin osissa kaupoissa olevan viallisia levyjä. Ollaan huhuttu uudesta painoksesta joka olisi ehjä, mutta tästä ei ole varmistusta.

Joka tapauksessa itsellä siis tälläinen tilanne

Ainakin seuraavat 4 episoodia ovat viallisia levyllä 4:

- 2) Long Live Walter Jameson (vaikuttaa pikaisen testin perusteella että vain loppu tekstit eivät toimi)
- 3) People Are Alike All Over (vaikuttaa pikaisen testin perusteella että vain alun pari ensimmäistä minuuttia nykii/jähmettyy)
- 5) A Big Tall Wish (katselukelvoton noin 10:00 eteenpäin)
- 6) A Nice Place To Visit (tämäkin on täysin katselukelvoton)

Siis 8:sta episoodista 4:llä levyllä, on 4:ssä episoodissa ongelmia, joista 2 episoodia ovat katselukelvottomia. Toisaalta yhteensä 36:sta jaksosta ehkä "vain" 2 on katselukelvottomia, ja lisäksi minulla on nyt vissiin 32 loistavaa normaalisti toimivaa jaksoa.

Täytynee kysyä jos Image Entertainment voisi minullekin lähettää uuden Season 1 disc 4:n, vaikka nyt onnistuinkin kelaamaan 6) A Nice Place To Visit:n n. 2 minuutin ajalta leffan alkuvaiheilta ja liian paljoa ei leikkautunutkaan pois, joten nyt vain 5) A Big Tall Wish on täysin katselukelvoton minulle. Imagen Michele on ainakin jenkeille lähettänyt uusia kopiota levyistä 1 ja 4, vaikka virallisesti Image taitaa nyt vasta myöntää että levyssä no:4 on vikaa. USA:sta tulikin nopeasti paluupostia, eli vain noin 3 viikkoa jouduin odottelemaan korvaavaa levyä ja nyt näyttää uusi 4-levykin toimivan normaalisti. Kiitettävästi oli yksittäinen korjattu levy pakattu isoon ohueeseen DVD-muovikoteloon ja maxi-kuplapussiin. Tattista Image Entertainment!

Like the previous releases, the episodes have all be remastered for high definition, but will retain their original 1.33:1 "full screen" video aspect ratio (in black-and-white, naturally). The fourth season of the 'Twilight Zone' moved to an hour-long episode format, which worked better for certain episodes than it did for others.[...]

It's true that the number of episodes was severely cut back for this season. Only 18 episodes in all, compared to the 37 half-hour episodes of season three. I can see people being wary of picking up this set, because you're definitely not getting as many original stories, but there are some classic episodes in here.[...]

Final Thoughts

Kudos to Image! They continue to put out a stellar product for one of the best television series of all time. They've got this down to a science now, reproducing magnificent video and audio that compliment this fantastic series. As usual, the special features are overflowing to the point that you have no idea if you'll ever get to every single one of them, but it's good to know that they're all there in case you find the time. This is certainly a set that, like the others, is a must own.

Season five is a pretty far leap from the masterful first few seasons. Still, after five years 'The Twilight Zone' was able to put out a product that stood the test of time. Most of season five's episodes are still great. They may not be as memorable as episodes from earlier seasons, but for fans of the show they still hold a special place in our hearts.

However, there is one caveat to the video quality of season five. Episode 142, "An Occurance at Owl Creek Bridge," looks mighty different from the other episodes. That's because "An Occurance at Owl Creek Bridge" wasn't shot as a normal 'Twilight Zone' episodes. It's a short French film written by Ambrose Bierce and directed by Robert Enrico [fixed by Leterface]. It's noticeably different in look. It's much dirtier and overall, bares a resemblance to the handful of season two episodes that were shot on videotape instead of film. There are noticeable scratches throughout the episode. Some scratches are stationary and never seem to move. Simply becoming static images on the screen. Light fades in and out as parts of the picture become lighter and darker in the same shot. It's noticeably worse quality than the other episodes in the season, but it's to be expected since it came from a completely different source. Overall, the 1080p video presentation here is the same as the other seasons. It looks fantastically filmic, retaining a natural grain structure. Fans will be proud.

The Twilight Zone - Blu-ray Disc Releases Coming for 'The Complete Series' and 'Fan Favorites'
Both of these high-end and low-end titles will be available in early JunePosted by David Lambert

In 2006, Image Entertainment released The Twilight Zone - The Complete Definitive Collection on DVD, with all 5 seasons of the original show. In 2010-11, Image released all 5 seasons individually, in high-def Blu-ray Disc format. A number of fans have held off on buying those separate sets in the Blu version, though, hoping to get a Blu-ray version of The Twilight Zone - The Complete Series at some point. We're happy to tell you that it's on the way!

Package art hasn't been finalized for it yet, but our press contacts at Image inform us that it will be available starting June 5th, at the cost of $399.98 SRP (of course retailers will discount it heartily from there, so please expect it at a fraction of that price!). All the content, including bonus material, from the separate season sets will be there of course. On the same street date, Image will also put out a Blu-ray version of The Twilight Zone - Fan Favorites. This is the same title as a previous DVD release, but at this time Image hasn't finalized the set, so we're unsure if the box art will be the same or even if the episode list will be the same. The goal is to get something out there in a low price range, for casual fans who want a taste of the original show in its high-def glory! The price point will be $34.98 SRP, and you can already pre-order it at a discount.
