Huhuja Oppon tulevasta soittimesta.. CEDIAssa DVDO/Anchor Bayn osastolla on bongattu Oppon tulevan BDP-83:n prototyyppi. Soitin ei ole vielä käyttökunnossa.

Kuvia löytyy esimerkiksi AVS Forumin ketjusta.

Osaston valinta ja VRS-logo soittimen takapaneelissa ovat lupaavia merkkejä. Soittimen etureunassa näyttäisi olevan SACD-logo ja myös DVD-Audiosta on huhuttu.

HDTV Magazine raportoi Oppon tähtäävän joulumarkkinoille.

Oppo on ollut merkkinä aika luotettava tapaus, joten nyt odotellaan vain hintatietoja. Kun esim. Panasonic DMP-BD55EG näyttää nyt saavan halvimmillaan 399 eurolla, niin tuolle Opolle voisi povailla jotain 599 euron hintaa. Jos se soittaa SACD, DVD-A, DivX (yms.) ja toistaa DVDt kuten 983 ja BDn nykyisten soittimien tasolla, niin eiköhän tuosta kaupat synny. Tämä on kuitenkin sellainen hankinta jolla mennään pitkään.

The BDP-83 will be a Profile 2.0 that features the ABT 2010 de-interlacing and scaling solution for both DVD and Blu-Ray media. The product as currently implemented supports SACD. We are investigating the possibility of DVD-Audio support.

The player will support the transportation and decoding of the Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital TrueHD, DTS High Resolution, and DTS HD-Master. In the current implementation only the core DD and DTS are supported, but the hardware will support the transportation and decoding of these formats in the future.

No price has been established, but we are throwing around $499~699 as the possible price points. Anticipated release is Winter (November through February)

No onhan se viisisataakin nykyään mistä tahansa soittimesta jo aika paljon. Itsellä kulkee kipuraja 399 eurossa, eli sitten kun Oppon bluray-soitin maksaa sen verran tai vähemmän, niin EtP sen hankkii.

With Profile 1.1 players now selling for $199 and lower at major retailers, OPPO is debating whether they should release a Profile 1.1 player in time for the holiday season that will be firmware-upgradable to BD-Live™ (Profile 2.0) sometime in January 2009, or simply wait until January to sell it as a BD-Live player out of the box. My guess is they will choose to wait, considering BD-Live players are still selling in the $300 to $400 range on the low end.

It is beginning to look like our weakened economy, combined with the commodity-driven practices of major electronics manufacturers, is having a serious effect on smaller, performance-oriented manufacturers trying to release high-quality equipment for the lowest possible price. Hopefully, they can weather the storm and the performance home theatre segment can survive.

Onko Oppon BR tulossa Eurooppaan? Tähän asti olen ymmärtänyt, että se jäisi vain Region A soittimeksi. Korjatkaa, jos olen väärässä.

Ainakin DVD puoli on varmasti helposti vaihdettavissa aluekoodittomaksi, mutta BD:n kanssa asia voi olla juridisesti hieman hankalampi.

One of the major design goals for the BDP-83 is to deliver first-class video quality for both Blu-ray and DVD. We based and expanded upon our top-of-the-line DV-983H up-converting DVD player and fully utilize the unparalleled performance of the VRS by Anchor Bay video processing solution. You can expect all the high-end video features including Source Direct for DVD and Blu-ray, high definition HDMI scaling, Edge and Detail Enhancement options, and 1080p24Hz output for both Blu-ray and DVD.

We did not stop at just video performance. We further refined the audio stage, including the addition of discrete stereo outputs and increasing the power and efficiency of the power supply. For SACD playback, the BDP-83 supports direct DSD over HDMI and DSD-to-analog without any PCM conversion, a very unique feature.

With the BDP-83, we intend to release a full-featured universal Blu-ray Disc player that supports BD Profile 2.0 (BD-Live), DVD, SACD, DVD-Audio, Dolby TrueHD, and DTS-HD Master Audio. As of this writing, the BDP-83 supports BD Profile 1.1 (BONUSVIEW), DVD-Video, SACD, and bitstreaming of Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. The BDP-83 is currently undergoing an extensive and thorough Beta Test Program. , Näyttäisi olevan meikäläisen uusi soitin kun ilmestyy. Tosin odottelen aluksi lastentautien poistumista ennen hankintaa. Nykyinen Sonyn BDP-S350 on tarpeeksi hyvä blu-ray -soitin, mutta DVD toistoon olisin kaivannut vielä parempaa. SACD-toisto on hyvä, koska pääsen siten vanhasta DVD/SACD-soittimestani eroon.
Ja hintakaan ei ole paha jos vaan toteutuu. Kaikenkaikkiaan lupaavat speksit soittimella!

Miksi näin? Tunnetusti Opoltohan tulee nuo firmware-päivitykset tarpeen mukaan suhteellisen tiuhaan tahtiin, ja käsittääkseni jos on noita Oppoja ennakkotilaillut, niin hintakin on hieman alempi kuin mitä sitten, kun laite on ilmestynyt.

$499 + toimituskulut olisi meikäläiselle kyllä vielä passelihinta. $599 alkaa mennä sitten jo sellaiseksi, että laitteesta irti saatu hyöty ei oikeuta enää hintaa.

Itse en ole innostunut siitä, että tähän soittimessa on painotettu myös SACD- ja DVD-audio -ominaisuuksia. Ensinnäkin Oppon ostajakunta käsittääkseni on ollut enimmäkseen enemmän tai vähemmän alan harrastajia ja nimenomaan hintatietoisia sellaisia. Nuo ominaisuudet nostavat tämän laitteen hintaa, ja minusta olisi ainakin suuri harmi, jos esimerkiksi noiden ominaisuuksien takia esimerkiksi alle 400 euron hinta pomppaisi yli 500 euron hintaan (mikä on kuitenkin jo aika paljon highendistejä lukuunottamatta). Toinen pointti tässä on se, että enemmistö himoaa Oppoa nimenomaan elokuvia toistamaan. Jälleen kerran olisi typerää, jos ominaisuuksien, joita vain murto-osa hyödyntää, takia hinta painuu monen budjetin yli.

No, katsotaan nyt mihin hinta asettuu, kunhan laite tulee ennakkotilattavaksi (sitähän voi siis rekisteröityä vastaanottamaan tiedon tästä ajankohdasta sähköpostiin). Jos hinta alkaa olla lähempänä esimerkiksi Denonmaista hinnoittelua kuin Sonymaista hinnoittelua, niin ehkä Opon olisi ollut viisainta ensin tehdä BD-soitin ilman tuollaista all-in-one -strategiaa.
